Description of the Problem

Members of the LGBTQ community are often reluctant to report crimes due to social stigma and other historical/cultural issues, and may have unique needs when cooperating with an investigation and in their support and recovery from trauma. At the same time, law enforcement, prosecutors and victim/witness advocates in Minnesota have little to no training in working with and supporting members of the LGBTQ community.
