Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Drug Court Institute for Briefings, a training curriculum designed by law enforcement for law enforcement, including in-person training, virtual lunch-and-learns, and publications. This training provides law enforcement officers with some of the key tools to build an agency-wide understanding of treatment courts and diversion programs, develop standard engagement protocols, and improve jurisdictions' public safety outcomes.
Training Overview: Briefings Virtual Lunch-and-Learn features four 75-minute virtual sessions designed to address public safety's internal and external approach through law enforcement's role in treatment courts and the community. The course enables law enforcement officers to identify standard operating procedures, recognize the importance of both the multidisciplinary approach and the implementation of community policing, and the impact of vicarious trauma within the law enforcement community. It provides law enforcement professionals with tools to recognize and respond to individuals dealing with co-occurring disorders in a culturally effective, trauma-informed manner. Additionally, the curriculum provides tools for law enforcement professionals to understand secondary trauma's impact on officer wellness.
Training Dates – All sessions in each series will be open for virtual login at 11:40 am local time and the introduction begins at 11:50 pm. The session concludes at 1:15 pm local time.
