The City of Miami Gardens requests assistance regarding its violent crime problem. We are aware of a program run by the Los Angeles Police Department called Operation LASER/Smart Policing. We have read a Spotlight document on the Smart Policing website about the program and think it is a good fit for our city. We have reduced overall crime in the City of Miami Gardens in 6 years by over 40% but still are faced with the crisis of increasing violence and youth on youth homicides.

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
The requested assistance will specifically address our need to reduce gun-related crime/violence in our city. We would like to request assistance from a Captain from the LAPD and from Justice and Security Strategies, the evaluator of the program. We believe they can assist us with guidance concerning our violent crime problems.
