Eastern Band of Cherokee is hoping to develop Peacemaking as a court-sponsored
option in certain cases, in schools, employment, and other topical areas. They are also considering establishing community peacemaking at remote communities farthest from the Tribal Court building. They would like to request an advanced skills training and intensive practical experiential learning among community member peacemakers who will take cases involving child welfare and family safety matters. Preliminary surveys from community members and feedback provided after introductory trainings have requested more time to do intensive, advanced training for the Cherokee Peacemakers. A three-day training has been identified as optimal, with the focus as described above.
Program components:
1. 3-day intermediate peacemaking facilitation training for peacemakers,
administrative and court personnel, 2 trainers, 20 participants, onsite at
Cherokee NC, Date TBD
2. Technical assistance with tribal code and regulation drafting, 35 hours total
work at consulting rate, performed remotely, July through Dec 2018
3. Evaluation of training development and execution. Developing evaluation
methods for the Peacemaking program.

NAICJA met with the tribe to discuss what options would be best for their goals. It was decided that a 3-day on-site training would be best for their needs. A rough budget, plan and list of goals was then created and sent to NAICJA Administration for review. Three main components were identified:
