Description of the Problem

The City of Phoenix Police Department has experienced 26 Officer Involved Shootings (OIS) this calendar year. In each instance, the subject had a weapon (gun, knife, or dangerous instrument). Thankfully no officer have been physically injured. This is a disturbing trend and the Police Department is very concerned about the safety of our officers and those persons whom we serve in the community.
