The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) recently published the blog post “Promoting Justice for All,” authored by Acting Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Alan Hanson, on the importance of the right to counsel. In the OJP Blog, Acting AAG Hanson emphasizes the necessity of protecting and improving the fundamental right to counsel guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, calling it “the foundation of true justice.”

The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) released its Fiscal Year 2018 Program Summaries report, which provides details of all 72 programs that the agency manages. This resource covers program descriptions, goals, funding details, accomplishments, and application and award history for each program.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, while the week in which that day falls is designated as National Police Week. This week honors the U.S. law enforcement community and recognizes law enforcement and first responder personnel who have fallen in the line of duty.
